Marilyn D. Steiner, 57, Grand Forks, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the University of Minnesota Hospital due to complications following a bone marrow transplant.
Marilyn Dee Steiner was born in Crookston, Minnesota on April 4, 1954 to Glenn and Esther (Fundingsland) Steiner. She graduated from Crookston High School in 1972. She earned a data entry degree from Control Data in 1974 and then was employed by First Computer in St. Paul, Minnesota. Marilyn later returned to Crookston where she was employed by St. Francis Senior Living Facility. She was employed for many years as a bartender and waitress in Grand Forks and for the last 15 years as a dispatcher for the Grand Forks Herald. She especially enjoyed working part time as a hostess during UND Sioux Hockey games at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
She is survived by brothers, Maurie Steiner, Grand Forks, ND, Les (Fran) Steiner, Roseville, MN; a niece, Molly (Ryan) Nielsen and their children, Isaiah, Josiah, Keziah and Lydiah; nephews, Jason Steiner and Matt (Danielle) Steiner and their children, Ethan and Zoe; and her beloved cat Dolly.
Marilyn enjoyed taking pictures, growing plants, her many various collections, cats, trips to Winnipeg, and organizing parties for friends and for any occasion. She was her motherís caregiver for many years and had a huge heart for her family and friends, and will be deeply missed by all
She is preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Kathy.
Memorial Services: will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 in Sharon Lutheran Church, 1720 S. 20th St., Grand Forks.
Visitation: will be one hour prior to the service in the church
Private Family Interment: will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston, Minnesota.
