Rick Wixo
February 3, 1958 - September 22, 2012

Richard C. Wixo, 54 of Los Feliz, California and formerly of Grand Forks, died Sept. 22, 2012 at Kaiser Permeante Medical Center, Panorama City, California.

Richard Charles Wixo, son of Tony and Ilah (Rike) Wixo, was born in Grand Forks on Feb. 3, 1958. He attended Grand Forks Public Schools, graduating from GFC in 1976. Rick graduated from Wahpeton State School of Science in architectural drafting.

He was employed by Minnkota Power, and later in Minneapolis as a draftsman. He moved to San Franciso, California where he was employed by DHL, and later worked as a merchant marine on an oiler tanker that was based out of the Persian Gulf.

For the past 11 years, Rick lived in the Los Angeles area where one of his favorite things to do was to walk around his beloved Silver Lake. He studied acting at the ‘Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute’. Through his skills and talents, he became a member of the Screen Actors Guild, and was an actor in television and play productions.

Rick enjoyed his childhood and early adulthood, actively involved with family in equestrian activities. His love of horses never left him; he deservedly earned many awards. Also, he had a passion for classic cars.

Rick was an ambitious, creative and caring person with many talents.
One of his endeavors (that he and his mother developed) was producing ‘Amazing Alphabet’(flash cards to help children learn ABC’s as well as to celebrate their self-esteem). Rick had a lifelong love of houses and real estate, and in between acting jobs, he worked as a licensed Realtor in California, employed by Sotheby’s International, where he was respected and loved, in the profession. He was an active member of North Hollywood Church of Religious Science. Rick enriched people’s lives with his sunny smile and kind heart. One of the many things he did to help others, was to do volunteer work for children with cancer in the Los Angeles area.

Our world was blessed by Rick’s personality, gifts and talents that he was always happy to share. Though his illness hastened his parting, may we celebrate the fact that he is with God and loved ones who have gone before him, most certainly his Mom and Dad. His family would like to thank all of Rick’s ‘family of friends’ in the Los Angeles area for their kindness, consideration, friendship and , most recently, for the wonderful care they provided during his illness.

He is survived by a sister, Sherri Jeffery and her children, Chris and his children, Ashley, Haley, and Tristen; and Shawna and her son, Jacob; and many family members and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Lyle Jeffery, as well as many beloved family members.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00, on Saturday, Oct 13th at the VFW, 312 Demers Av, in East Grand Forks, MN. An additional celebration of life will be held in the Los Angeles area on Oct 18th.
God bless the memory of Richard Charles Wixo.

Interment will be at a later date in Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore, ND
