Alice Eider

October 24, 1929 — February 18, 2026

Grand Forks, North Dakota

Alice Eider passed away on February 18, 2026, at Woodside Village, Grand Forks.

Alice Larene (Lawson) Eider joined the family of Bernesia Emeline (Newman) and William (Bill) Preston Lawson on October 24, 1929. She was their fourth daughter, followed by another sister and two brothers. Growing up on the farm, Alice honed her gardening and canning skills. We all miss her dill pickles and will forever wonder why she made us leave the house because the beans might blow up the pressure cooker, but it was safe for her to stay. She passed her love of camping down to her family.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Eider, parents, siblings, and their spouses: Laura Elizabeth (Hartley) Eberhardt, Beulah (John) Farrell, Alma (Pat) Braaten, Doris (Harold) Eider, Walter (Nan) Lawson, Floyd/ Buck (Ranee) Lawson.

Alice attended school at Grace District #58 for eight years, graduating from Larimore High School. She moved to Fargo to attend Dacotah Business College.

The happiest day of her life, March 7, 1951, she married Gordon Russell Eider. Gordy at the time was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, MS. They married in the Base Chapel.

Alice and Gordy eventually made their home in Beulah, ND, raising two daughters Debra (Kerry) Meagher, Laura (Jerry Voegele) Eider. They enjoyed working in the school system and touching the lives of so many families. They were active members of the Beulah Congregational Church. Alice was proud to have helped publish the 1997 Friendly Circle Cookbook.

In 1982, Alice bravely flew to San Antonio, TX, to represent North Dakota in the National Beef Cook Off Competition. Her award-winning meatball recipe is included in the church cookbook!

Their family grew to include three granddaughters: Natalie (Eric) Brace, Kristyn (Partner Paul Ullmann) Voegele, Tyler (Jordan) Senff. Natalie and Eric added two great-grandsons, Tyler and Jordan added two great-granddaughters and soon to be joining their family will be another baby girl. Alice is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
