Arlette (Nabben) Bjornson, age 72, Arvilla, ND, passed away on May 26, 2026, at Hatton Prairie Village, Hatton, ND.
Arlette Maureen Nabben was born on September 19, 1953, to Victor and Edna (Hoverson) Nabben in Grand Forks, ND. She was raised on the family farm in rural Niagara, ND, and was baptized and confirmed at Elk Valley Lutheran Church in McCanna, ND. She graduated in 1971 from Fordville High School and went on to receive her degree in Licensed Practical Nursing from Lake Region Junior College in Devils Lake, ND.
Arlette married Philip Bjornson on November 14, 1975, at Elk Valley Lutheran Church. They took over operation of the Bjornson dairy farm in Hegton Township before moving to Arvilla, ND in October of 1986. Arlette and Philip were proud parents to their children, Jason Philip, Sara Minnie, and Daniel Lynn, and proud grandparents to Levi and Caleb Jobin.
Arlette dedicated four decades of her life to serving the Lord through her calling as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She spent the majority of her career at the Larimore Good Samaritan Nursing Home and several years at the Northwood Deaconess Nursing Home. Over the years, she showed remarkable commitment to serving others with dignity and compassion. She was a highly esteemed colleague, mentor to others, and was deeply committed to providing the highest standard of care for residents and their families. After retirement, she enjoyed working at the Edna Ralston Library in Larimore.
Arlette thoroughly enjoyed conversation and laughter with friends and family over a good cup of coffee. Everyone she met quickly fell into the category of friend, as she had the most infectious and kind personality. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, and was most proud to tell stories of her beloved grandsons! She held a deep faith in God that was refined by some of the most difficult trials of life. She found joy in every valley and her life was a true testimony to grace under pressure, as she continued to fight with quiet confidence until she was called home.
Arlette is survived by her children, Jason Bjornson, Grand Forks, ND; Sara (Michael) Jobin, Duluth, MN; Daniel Bjornson (Jeffrey Blaseg), Moorhead, MN; siblings, Dale (Judy) Nabben, Bismarck, ND; Ardell (Laurel) Nabben, Niagara, ND; Linda (Richard) Butler, Grand Forks, ND; and Donna Nabben (Mike Sirek), East Grand Forks, MN; grandsons, Levi and Caleb Jobin of Duluth, MN; sister-in-law, Peggy (James) Preston, Albany, OR; and brother-in-law, Neal (Patricia) Bjornson, San Antonio, TX; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Arlette was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Bjornson; parents, Victor and Edna Nabben; mother and father-in-law Ray and Nellie Bjornson; brother-in-law, Lyall Bjornson; and many other cherished family members and friends.
Arlette’s family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to the health care teams at Hatton Prairie Village, Sanford Mayville Medical Center, H.I.A. Hospice, and Altru Health System for the exceptional care and compassion extended during these past several months.
