Barbara Ann (Heggen) Andre was born October 21, 1945, at her Grandmother Hilda Paulson’s farmhouse, near Stephen, Minnesota. Barbara passed away at her home in Manvel, North Dakota on May 3, 2026. Barbara was the third child born of four children to George and Evelyn Heggen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.
Barbara grew up on the Heggen farm, West of Stephen attending Rural School district 77, and graduating Steven Highschool. After high school, she and a friend moved to Grafton, ND where they trained and became telephone operators. She later moved to Alliance, Nebraska and became a CNA. There she met and married Michael Andre. They later moved to Warren, MN and resided in Manvel, ND. They were parents of Michele, Nicole, and Michael Jr.
Barbara loved canning, baking and reading books. Spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren kept her living. She battled chronic, severe health issues and persevered with her faith, family, strength, grace, mercy and will to live.
She is proceeded in death by George and Evelyn Heggen, brother Roger Heggen, infant son, sister-in-law Mary Heggen and former husband Michael Andre.
She is survived by daughters, Michele (Shilo) Lindemann of Manvel, N.D., Nicole (T.J. Boaz) Andre of Grand Forks, N.D and son Michael (JR) (Christy) Andre of Grand Forks, N.D. Sister Carol (Wesley) King of Townsend, MT. Brother Bruce Heggen of Park River, ND. Grandchildren are Jonathan Lindemann, Jerrid Lindemann, Buddy Rodriguez, Elena (Berger), Faith (Hanson), Evie Rodriguez, Brandon Greggie, Sara Andre and Lily Andre, along with 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Also, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manvel, ND. Visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at 11:00 am. Lunch will be served following the service and will proceed to the burial after lunch. Burial will be held in Stephen, MN.
