Bruce Wayne Nyhlen, 75, Grand Forks, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, at Valley Senior Living on Columbia.
Bruce was born on November 2, 1949, in Minneapolis, MN, to Willis John Nyhlen and Evelyn (Ellingboe) Nyhlen. He graduated in 1967 from Vocational High School in Minneapolis. Bruce proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, where he worked in administration and as a missile site facilities manager for 20 years. After his military career, he spent 25 years as the owner/operator of Grand Forks Video Transfer until his retirement in 2012.
He married Cheryl Somogyi at American Lutheran Church in Rantoul, IL, on August 11, 1973. Bruce was a faithful member of Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed relaxing at their cabin on Grace Lake, MN, and had a passion for home-brewing craft beer.
Bruce is survived by his wife Cheryl, children: Judith (Tyler) Livingston of North St. Paul, MN, and Robert (Nicole) Nyhlen of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren: Felix Livingston, Chicago, IL; Zander Livingston, North St. Paul, MN; Kylie, Kris, and Christian Nyhlen, Moorhead, MN; sister Evonne (Ted) Strand, Peachtree City, GA; brother-in-law Don Segaar, Brooten, MN; sister-in-law Debbie Somogyi, Peoria, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Jane Segaar, stepfather Clarence Baalson, brother-in-law Daryl Somogyi, and nephews Allen and Brian Johnson.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, October 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sharon Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
