Charlene M. Holweger

March 23, 1961 — June 9, 2025

Charlene M. Holweger, age 64, of Prior Lake, Minnesota, passed away Monday, June 9, 2025, at the Methodist Hospital in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota, surrounded by the love of her husband and children.

Charlene Marice Skari was born on March 23, 1961, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Dave and Arlene (Anderson) Skari. She grew up in the Grand Forks area and attended Red River High School and graduated with the class of 1979. Following graduation, she was united in marriage to Steven Holweger on July 28, 1979, at the Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Together, they raised their three children in Thompson, North Dakota, and eventually settled in Prior Lake, Minnesota. Charlene dedicated over 15 years to the Thompson Post Office, but her favorite and most important roles were being a loving mother and devoted wife.

Charlene had a love for creative arts and painting, especially painting ceramic villages. Her heart was most full when she was spending time with her family, whether it was taking her grandchildren to the Minnesota Zoo, teasing with pranks, or making phone calls with prayers to check in and see how everyone was doing. Charlene loved making everyone feel special on birthdays and holidays. She made sure to keep traditions that would continue to be shared throughout the generations. Charlene also enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and squirrels. Her love for her family and her shining, playful spirit will be deeply missed.

Charlene is survived by her husband of 46 years, Steve Holweger of Prior Lake, MN; children, Anna (Shayne) Klatt of Medina, MN, Chris Holweger of Prior Lake, MN, Amy (Andrew) Moreland of Barnesville, MN; grandchildren, Karly Klatt, Kayla Klatt, and Abigail Moreland; sister, Cheryl (Rich) Swangler of Grand Forks, ND; nieces and nephews; and mother-in-law, Barb McPherson of Prescott Valley, AZ.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Arlene Skari, and her infant brother, Randy.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Amundson Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Forks with Pastor Keith Becker officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park North Cemetery in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

In Charlene’s memory, the family is planning to donate a park bench to be placed in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area in lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to this park bench.
