Clarice Ann Urness

Clarice A. Urness, 81 of Grand Forks, North Dakota died Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Valley Senior Living, Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Clarice was born on November 24, 1944, the daughter of Harvey and Blanche (Rodningen) Wixo in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She was raised on the family farm in rural Petersburg, North Dakota and graduated valedictorian at Unity High School. Clarice attended Aakers Business College and later worked at UND Business office for a few years.

Clarice was united in marriage to Gary Urness on October 12, 1963, at Petersburg Lutheran Church. They made their home in Grand Forks, where she worked in the cafeteria at Altru Hospital for twenty-seven years.

Clarice enjoyed quilting, sewing, rummage sales and Bingo. She was known to always have Diet Coke in hand, especially when playing Bingo.

Clarice is survived by her loving husband, Gary Urness; three daughters, Becky Dvorak, Barb Urness and Bethany (Kurt) Reck; two grandchildren, Taylor and Trevor Reck; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Wixo and Rita Jehlicka; two nieces and five nephews.

Clarice was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dwaine Wixo, father-in-law, and mother-in-law, Leon and Stella Urness, brother-in-law, Paul Jehlicka.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at University Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, North Dakota. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at University Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, North Dakota.
