Claudia Phyllis Raymond

Claudia Phyllis Raymond, 85, died peacefully at home in Grand Forks, North Dakota on June 20, 2026. Claudia was born on October 1, 1940 in Halstad, Minnesota to Clifford and Olive (Steen) Olson. She graduated from high school in 1958 and continued her education at Bethesda Nursing School in Crookston, MN, where she received her LPN degree.

She married Joe Raymond on December 29, 1962 and made their homes in Crookston, Warren, then finally in Grand Forks, North Dakota, raising their three children, Jon, Jay, and Jody.

Claudia worked as a nurse at the hospitals in Crookston and Warren, and at Valley Memorial Home Almonte and Parkwood Place in Grand Forks, retiring at age 70.

Claudia enjoyed fishing and regularly out-fished Joe at Lake of the Woods as well as at their cabins at Tulaby Lake and Lake Bemidji. Claudia loved being a Minnesota Twins and Viking fan as well as being an ardent Fighting Sioux fan. She was not a fan of the NDSU Bison, to put it mildly. One of her greatest joys was gardening, winning the Grand Forks Herald yard of the week twice.

Claudia is survived by her three children: Jon (Laura), Jay, and Jody; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one brother, Dan (Vicki). She is preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Olive; brother, Carl and husband, Joe.

A memorial service will be held at Amundson Funeral Home on Monday, June 29th, at 2 PM, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
