Crystal Dorothy Steffens

Crystal Dorothy Steffens, 63, of Grand Forks, ND, died on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Altru Hospital. Crystal was born on February 17, 1959 in Fargo, North Dakota to David and Dorothy (Hollister) Voelk. She was raised and received her education in Thief River Falls, Minnesota where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1977. Following high school, she attended Bemidji State College, receiving her bachelor's degree in Biology, and then the University of North Dakota where she received a master’s degree in Speech Pathology. Crystal then began her career as a speech pathologist for Grafton State School. While in Grafton, she met Scott Steffens. The couple were married in Grand Forks on October 21, 1989. They lived in Grand Forks where Crystal continued her career as a speech pathologist for group homes, spending the last 20 years with Health Dimensions Rehabilitation. Crystal enjoyed her home-life routine, spending time with her pets, and traveling. Survivors include, her husband, Scott; a sister, Becky Voelk of Grand Forks; a sister-in-law, Julie Steffens of Fargo, and her fur-baby Otis. She was preceded in death by, her parents and a brother, Matthew. In lieu of flowers memorials suggest donations to the Circle of Friends Animal Shelter in Grand Forks.
