Darla Cerrone, lovingly known as "Sunshine," was a beacon of warmth and compassion, illuminating the lives of those around her. Born on January 31, 1977, in Cando, North Dakota and lived in Langdon, ND, with her family, before settling in Grand Forks, ND. She graduated from Red River High School with the Class of 1996, a testament to her bright spirit that would only grow stronger through her education at the North Dakota State University, University of North Dakota, and the University of Phoenix.
Darla dedicated her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse, she especially loved working with children in pediatrics. She approached each patient with a delicate touch and an abundance of love. Her professional journey was not just a career for her; it was a calling where she made profound differences in the lives she touched.
On August 24, 2003, she married Paul Cerrone, embarking on a beautiful journey of love and partnership. Though her time with Paul was cherished, he has since passed, leaving behind fond memories of their life together.
Outside of her professional accomplishments, Darla was a true artist at heart. She found joy in singing, dancing, and expressing herself through poetry and sketching. Owls held a special place in her heart, as she enjoyed collecting anything that celebrated these wise creatures. She was also a devoted pet parent to her furry feline children: Marly, Leo, and Lucy, who brought her endless joy and companionship.
Darla's personality reflected her nickname, Sunshine; she was indeed bright like a ray of sunshine. Family and friends will forever remember the warmth she bestowed upon all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Darla is survived by her loving parents, Kenneth and Vickie Peterson of Grand Forks; sister Jennell (Henry) Head of New Town, ND; one niece; three nephews; one great niece and two great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
A Visitation on February 14, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks, ND, followed by a Celebration of Life from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Though Darla has departed from this earthly realm, her legacy of love, joy, and kindness will continue to shine brightly in the lives of everyone she touched. Forever remembered, forever missed, and forever loved.
