Darrel A. Iverson, age 77, resident of Grand Forks, ND , passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Altru Hospital.
Darrel Arden Iverson, born February 3, 1949, passed to the final electrical inspection at Altru Hospital on September 4, 2026. Darrel passed to a better place surrounded by his closest family. Darrel was born at Deaconess Hospital in Grafton ND to Orville and Lillian Iverson. Darrel lived on the home farm northwest of Lankin, ND until the age of 7.
Darrel began school in a one room country school house. During some winter storm weather, his Dad would take him to school by horse drawn caboose sleigh. His family left the farm in 1956 and moved to Grand Forks ND where Darrel attended Winship and Roosevelt Elementary School. He then attended South Junior High School and graduated from Central High School in 1967.
Darrel attended the North Dakota State College School of Science in Wahpeton, ND and graduated from the Electrical Technology course followed by a year at Aaker Business College. Darrel worked for Iverson Electric during the summer months between his years in college.
Darrel began working at the University of North Dakota for Buildings and Grounds for 47 dedicated years.
During his electrical career Darrel studied hard and completed electrical tests for journeyman and masters tests bringing him to a Master Electrician. Darrel at the time was the first person in Noth Dakota to score 100% on his Journeyman’s Electrical test. Darrel was very dedicated to his electrical craft winning recognition for his hard work. Darrel was a perfectionist always crossing his T's and dotting his I's in everything he did.
After retiring he began making various craft projects that kept him busy and it made him happy to give his craft gifts away. Darrel was quite the historian that could describe minute dates and details as he told stories from the years past.
Darrel was a very private person wanting to live in peace with his always pet friends. Darrel was never married but was always included in his brother's wife's family who loved and treated him like family at all family functions. Darrel truly enjoyed that and was always part of the family.
Darrel, though not a farmer, had a true love for farming and especially International Harvester Tractors. He preferred an "H" model which was the model of his father's tractor.
Darrel will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Darrel will take his final Electrical inspection to Hoff Church where he will be a stones throw away from his farm land and farm where he began his life journey.
What Darrel was limited to in size, he gained in determination.
Darrel is survived by his brother Randy (Patty) Iverson; nephew, Chad of Grand Forks and niece, Krystal (Tim) Eastman and their children, Kallen and Kendall Eastman.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, Orville Iverson and Lillian Iverson and step mother, Irene Iverson
