Darrin Scott Peterson, at the age of 51, passed away on August 28, 2026, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota.
He was born on July 22nd, 1975, in Larimore, ND, the son of Jerry and Lois Peterson.
Darrin was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Larimore and graduated in 1993 from Larimore High School. After graduating, he attended North Dakota State College of Science and obtained an associate’s degree in business management in 1996. Then, in 2004, he graduated from the University of Minnesota Crookston with a Bachelor of Science in Golf Facilities/Turf Systems Management. 2004 is also the year where he married Stacey Borboa and started building his most lasting legacy as a father and husband. He lived in many places during this time-- Tulsa, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, before making his way back to North Dakota to start a family with Stacey.
Darrin became a father to three children, Karter Peterson, Crosby Peterson, and Berkeley Peterson. As a father he loved watching his kids play sports. He knew endless facts about North Dakota High School Sports. He loved road trips, especially to Valley City for a Pizza Corner pizza (or Zorbaz). He was an avid Yankees and Packers fan. He could spend hours on the phone with his Uncle Denny. He loved his work as a bus driver, because it meant he got to be around people. He especially loved to drive around with his kids.
Darrin is preceded in death by his mother, Lois Peterson, and mother-in-law, Connie Borboa. He is survived by his father, Jerry Peterson; his brother, Cory Peterson; his wife, Stacey Borboa-Peterson; his children, Karter, Crosby, and Berkeley; his pups Freddie & Gloria and grandpup, Winnie Cooper, and countless other beloved family members.
A celebration of Darrin’s life is planned for Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 2:00pm at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Everyone who wishes to celebrate Darrin’s life is invited to attend.
