Darryle "Henry" Hendrickson, 75 of Grand Forks, North Dakota died Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. 

Darryle Lynn Hendrickson was born on December 1, 1948, the son of Albert and Margaret (Brodahl) Hendrickson in Warren, Minnesota. Henry was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Oslo, Minnesota. He was raised in Oslo, Minnesota and graduated from Olso High School in 1966. 

Henry served in the North Dakota National Guard for twelve years. He was united in marriage to Colleen Devine on April 18, 1969, at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Manvel, North Dakota. They made their home in Manvel, where they raised their family. Henry worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 30 years until his retirement in 1999.

During his retirement years he ran “grandpa daycare”, taking care of his grandchildren while their parents were at work. He also was an usher at the Ralph Engelstad Arena for several years. Henry was an “Mr. Fix It” fixing anything that was broke. He was very well organized, nothing was left out of place and he also took great pride in his yard.

Henry was an active member of St. Timothy Catholic Church and volunteered when ever needed. His greatest joy in his life was his family, especially his grandchildren.

Henry is survived by his loving wife, Colleen Hendrickson of Grand Forks, ND; son, Brad (Tammy) Hendrickson of Excelsior, Minnesota; daughter, Cheri (Fred) Desmarais of Grand Forks, ND; nine grandchildren, Russell, Haley, Jeffrey, Amanda, Megan, Dylan, Kaylin, Rylie and Jaycee; two great-grandchildren, Holdyn and Brielle and one on the way; numerous nieces and nephews.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law, Carla Hendrickson, brother, Rick Hendrickson and sister, Marilee Onger.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2024, at Amundson Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Manvel, North Dakota.
