Delores A. Dawes, 86 of Grand Forks, North Dakota died Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Valley Senior Living, Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Delores was born on April 28, 1937, the daughter of Gustave and Ruth (Hunt) Nelson in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. She was raised and educated in South Range, Wisconsin. Delores was united in marriage on April 15, 1959, to Russell Dawes in Superior, Wisconsin. They moved to Alaska, where Delores worked as a secretary.

In 1969, they moved to North Dakota where they bought a farm. Together Delores and Russell shared the daily chores of the farm as well as raising their family. They continued to farm for many years until their retirement.

Delores had a very strong faith and was very active in her church. She was also a member of the Sons of Norway. Delores enjoyed visiting with family and friends. In her later years, she enjoyed going out to get ice cream and going to the salon to get her nails painted bright colors. This would put a big smile on her face!

Delores is survived by her children, Harvey Dawes of Montgomery, MN; Jennifer Prevett of Nampa, ID; Elizabeth (Bo) Dawes Kim of San Francisco, CA and Clarence (Wendee) Dawes of West Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Jin Yoo, Hayden and Tristan Kim and Tim Goodyear:  two brothers, Dan (Debbie) Nelson of Oak Hurst, CA and Loren (Beverly) Nelson of Prescott Valley, AZ; five sisters, Linda (Bob) Denny of Naples, ID; Verna (Richard) Vendella of Superior, WI; Esther (Terry) Seland of Fredonia, WI; Mary (Emery) Lane of Live Oak, FL and Martha (Ralph) Stromquist of Oregon, WI; numerous nieces and nephews.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Russell (2012), brothers Clarence, Carl and Bill Nelson.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Harvest Baptist Church, Larimore, North Dakota followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Elk Valley Cemetery, McCanna, ND. (Amundson Funeral Home)
