Delories Deitz, 89, of Grand Forks, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at Woodside Village, Valley Senior Living on 42nd, surrounded by her loving family.
Delories was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on May 1, 1936, the daughter of Otis and Agnes (Berkeland) Faulkner. She grew up in the Grand Forks area and graduated from Central High School. On June 12, 1954, she married Robert “Bob” Deitz in St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Delories began her career by opening her own daycare, a step that grew into a lifelong commitment to caring for children. She lovingly ran her daycare for 25 years before continuing her work at St. Michael’s Daycare Center and later at Wonder Years, where she remained until her retirement.
Delories enjoyed spending time with her family at the lake, tending to her flowers, baking, and taking trips with her family. She was also a great bargain shopper and took pride in finding a good deal. Delories was a devoted member of St. Michael’s Church and remained actively involved until her health no longer allowed her to attend. Through the Altar Society, she generously volunteered her time, demonstrating her deep faith and commitment to serving others.
Delories is survived by her children: Kandyce Robertson, Grand Forks, ND, Connie (Dean) Wylot, Lengby, MN, Cynthia (Bruce) Driscoll, East Grand Forks, MN, Kathleen (Jay) Gilbertson, Michigan, ND, Richard (Trisha) Deitz, Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Brandy Keenan, Amanda Hansen, Cody Driscoll, Shyanne (Tanner) Moen, Leland (Christine) Higginbotham, Luke Higginbotham, Chloe Wylot (Corey Kozel), Brandyn Deitz, Brianna Deitz, Bryce Deitz; 7 great grandchildren; siblings, David (Priscilla) Faulkner, Pamela Pariseau; sister-in-law Dorothy Johnson, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; her parents; her sisters, Mary, Barbara, and Carol; her son-in-law, Patrick; and her great-grandson, Aaron.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Grand Forks.
Visitation will take place one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
Delories will be laid to rest next to her late husband at Calvary Cemetery in Spring of 2026. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Valley Senior Living Foundation.
