Desmond J. Macho, 30, died Sunday, January 7, 2024, after a long, courageous battle with brain cancer, at his home surrounded by his loving family under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Desmond was born on July 20, 1993, with his identical twin brother, Damion to Eric Macho and Jessica Bueno in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Grand Forks, attending Red River High School, and graduating from Community High School in 2012. During his school years, Desmond played percussion in the school band, participated in chorus, and enjoyed English.

Desmond worked as a cook at Paradiso Mexican Restaurant for over ten years, until his health would no longer allow him to. During his younger years, Desmond spent many hours at ATA Martial Arts, earning his black belt in Taekwondo, while participating and placing in state competitions. Afterwards, he continued strength building, and even developed astounding finger muscularity.  He was an avid gamer, spending many hours online with his siblings, and enjoyed board games, chess, and card games with family. Desmond truly enjoyed making memories with everyone close to him, recalling the memories of them so often with sincere excitement. From all his recollections, his favorites were by far the times spent at the lake with his loved ones. Desmond was quite musically talented, creating and publishing his own instrumental music. He also had an uncanny talent for remembering historical facts and data, especially astronomy, as well as lines from his favorite TV shows and movies. Never really one to be upset or sad, Desmond brought so much happiness to everyone who was blessed to know him. He was one to always go out of his way to make everyone smile and laugh. Before his diagnosis, he studied the Bible, volunteered in the church nursery, and had the dream to spread the Word of God to the world. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Desmond is survived by his mother, Jessica (Robert) Tiller; father, Eric (Jamie) Macho; identical twin brother, Damion (fiancé, Morgan Hoffarth and his “best friend,” Oscar the cat) Macho; siblings, Destiny (Matt) Bueno-Morris, Keeley Kleinsasser, Olivia Beaudry, Payton Beaudry, Jackson Macho, Solveig Macho and Charlotte Macho; maternal grandmother and grandfather, Sharon and Mylo Lilke; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Desmond was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Margaret & Zeno Casavan, and paternal grandparents, Joanne and Ronald Macho.
