Donna Mae Whaley

Donna Mae Whaley, 88, passed away on January 27, 2022 in Grand Forks, ND.

Donna was born on February 9, 1933 in Minot, ND to Harold and Eunice Barber.  She grew up and attended school in Rolette, ND.  She married George Olson on December 30, 1950, and together they had 4 children.

Donna moved to Grand Forks in 1970, and worked in sales at the Ramada Inn.  Donna loved music from an early age - she began singing in church at 3 years old, and always loved to sing with her 4 sisters. Her other loves included spending time with her family, quilting, painting, and gardening. She split her later years between Arizona and her hometown of Rolette, ND, to be close to family and far away from North Dakota winters. 

She is survived by her children Ross, Curtis (Susan), Molly (Terry), and Wade (Saundra); 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters Lois Olson and Margaret Wittmayer.   She was preceded in death by her parents Harold Barber and Eunice and Albin Amble; grandson Keith Olson; and sisters Joanne Oakland and Betty Kalk.

Her family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the excellent care their mother received while living at Maple View Memory Care and Valley Senior Living on Columbia.
