Dr. Michael Lane Ward

Dr. Michael Lane Ward, PhD, born July 20, 1945, to parents Rex Grant Ward and Eleanor Quinn Ward died June 28, 2025, just a few weeks before his 80th birthday from complications of heart surgery. Dr. Mike was the retired Superintendent of West Clermont School District, former Director of Curriculum of Forest Hills School District, and former Principal at Sherwood and Mercer Elementary Schools. Former teacher and principal on the Pine Ridge, United Tribes and Quinault Indian Reservations.

He was a tremendous educator, a truly fun big personality, and the most devoted husband, predeceased by Dr. Marlene Burr Ward, PhD, loving father to Dr. Michael Christensen (predeceased), MD (Bobbie), and Dr David Christensen, JD, Reva Cherese Lewis (Dwayne) and Devyn Ward.

He absolutely loved and adored all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He truly believed that teaching children to love to learn was the best job in the world. He had an impact on everyone he met and his memories will carry on in all of us. Our mother always told us that our father flew from one adventure to the next and she was just along for the ride. In the words of one of his favorite Professors, "To the well organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.” -Albus Dumbledore
