Faith Krueger, 97, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2023 at Cornerstone Residence of Fosston, Minn. 

She was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Grand Forks, N.D., the daughter of Blossom (Laughlin) and Arthur Ferestead. She graduated from Central High School in 1944, and attended UND where she received a B.A. degree in Spanish and French in 1949.
Faith worked as a medical administrative assistant at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis for several years. Upon her return to Grand Forks, she worked as an administrative assistant at UND, and then in federal civil service positions until her retirement in 1986.
She married Jack Krueger on Dec. 12, 1985, at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Forks. They lived on a hobby farm near East Grand Forks, Minn. Not long after her marriage, she opened Jack & Faith’s Square Dance Shop, which was located on their premises. This was a large store covering a complete line of square dance apparel. Because of the growth of the shop, she and Jack took their line of merchandise to shows and sold at many conventions. After many years, she retired from this business.


Faith was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church in Grand Forks, and sang in their sanctuary choir for many years. Because of her love of singing, she joined the Twin Forks Chapter of Sweet Adelines, and was a charter member. She sang with this group for several years. She as also interested in instrumental music, and played saxophone. She was also a member of Thursday Music Club and the Red Hat Society. Because of her interest in theater, Faith joined the Readers Theater group in East Grand Forks at its inception, and enjoyed taking part in their performances for community groups.


Faith was greatly interested in visual arts. She did oil and water color painting, as well as worked in stained glass and mosaic art.
She liked to participate in fraternal orders, having been a member of the Maple Leaf Rebekah Lodge #3 for many years. She also belonged to the Red River Chapter of Eastern Star.


Faith loved traveling and toured many areas of the United States, but foreign travel was her favorite. She also worked on her Irish genealogy and learned a great deal about her ancestors.


She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jack, who passed away Sept. 21, 2007.


She is survived by her special friend, Mavis Ness, of Grand Forks.


Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Amundson Funeral Home.
