Filemon V. Verzosa

Filemon “Phil” V. Verzosa, age 65, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks after an 11-year battle with cancer and other illnesses.

Filemon was born October 19, 1960, in Manila, Philippines to Emmanuel S. and Felicisima (Vino) Verzosa. Phil was baptized into the Catholic faith in Mandaluyong, Philippines. He attended school at Great Falls High School in Great Falls, Montana and later went on to study Political Science. Phil worked as a Car Sales Representative for many years. He has also served in the US Army in which he was honorably discharged after the discovery of a medical condition.

Phil was an avid reader of fiction. He had a talent in drawing, singing, and is a self-taught guitar player rendering songs of the 70’s. He enjoyed fishing and spending time in nature. In his younger days he enjoyed dancing, cruising, and going to night clubs. He had a passion for watching sports, movies, documentaries and listening to music. Phil deeply embraced his Filipino heritage and was very active in the Filipino Community in Grand Forks where he was received with authentic Filipino hospitality and respect. He enjoyed cooking authentic Filipino cuisine. He loved traveling to Las Vegas to spend time with his family. He also cherished his time with his adopted Grand Forks family. He treasured checking in with his mother on a daily basis through Facetime.

Phil is survived by his mother, Felicisima Verzosa; siblings, Maria Young, Joanna Vassar Manuel Verzosa, and Voltaire Verzosa; nieces, Melissa, Liai, and Brianna; nephew, Sean; and grandnieces and grandnephews, Ky, Brandyn, Allie, Ethan, Matias, Brixley, and Jamieson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Emmanuel S. Verzosa.
