George Stadstad age 104 passed away September 30, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society, Larimore, ND. George was preceded in death by spouses Thelma (Sandaker), Jacqueline (Galaugher) and Luane (Hoverson), parents Obert and Bertha Stadstad of Manvel and brother Robert Stadstad of Manvel. He is survived by his three sons, Terry (Muriel) of Grand Forks, David (Gwen) of Montgomery MN and Dale (Linda) of Prior Lake MN. Two stepdaughters Linda (Keith) Storstad of Manvel and Donna (Roger) Praus of Bismarck, ND. Four grandchildren, Wade (Erin) of Emerado, Kjersten (Steve) Merila of White Bear Lake MN, Sheila (Nate) Horn of Prior Lake MN and Darren (Amy) of Conifer CO. Seven great-grandchildren, Samantha (Nick) Potz of Lakeville MN, Ben Horn of New Market MN, Allison and Gretchen Stadstad of Conifer CO, Emma, Ellie, and Charlie Stadstad, Emerado, ND, one great-great-grandchildren, Clare Potz of Lakeville MN.
George was born in Manvel, May 4, 1917, and attended grade school at Ferry Township school and Manvel high school. He attended the University of North Dakota and he worked on the family farm until his marriage to Thelma Sandaker in 1939. They moved to San Diego CA during the war years where he work as an inspector at Consolidated Aircraft with his new bride Thelma (Sandy) who worked as a riveter. After the war he, Thelma and new son Terry moved back to Manvel and began farming. George farmed successfully until the late sixties. After retiring from farming and marriage to Jackie he moved to Harlingen TX where he purchased a cotton seed processing plant that he operated until 1983, then fully retired, moved to Mesa AZ. After living in Mesa then Reno NV, he and Jackie moved back to Grand Forks. After Jackie passed away George re-married in 2008 to Luane Hoverson. Luane passed away in 2015.
George had a personality that could light up a room. He always had a positive can-do attitude and could lift your spirts with kind words of encouragement. He always had stories to tell and jokes that could create a few red faces. Above all, he loved his family and enjoyed having them around to visit. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St,, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in Middle Grove cemetery.
