Glenn H. “Drooper” Smith, 67, Grandin, ND and formerly of Grand Forks, ND, died Monday, June 27, 2022 from injuries received in a motorcycle crash near Gardner, ND.

Glenn was born December 4, 1954 in Grand Forks, the son of William Orris and Evelyn (Uggerud) Smith. He was raised in Grand Forks and graduated from Red River High School, before attending L. H. Bates Vocational Technical Institute in Tacoma, WA. Glenn took a job as a machinist with Burlington Northern Railroad, working in both Minneapolis, MN, and Grand Forks. Glenn retired from the railroad after 39 years of service. Glenn loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and traveling.

Glenn married Dolores “Dedi” Bratton on November 18, 1983 in Minneapolis. They resided in Minneapolis, MN; Princeton, MN; Reynolds, ND; and Grand Forks, until her death on September 7, 2009.

Glenn married Patty Raynes on December 31, 2013 in Grand Forks, where they lived before moving to Grandin. She survives along with Glenn’s children Janna Smith, Los Angeles, CA, and Jared Smith, Grand Forks, ND; brother Duane Smith, Hastings, MN, and nieces and nephews. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dolores, sisters Janice Lenhart and Marilyn Mortrud, and brother William E. Smith.

Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service.
