Ida Heuchert

Ida Heuchert, age 94, died on Friday, April 11, 2025. She was born Ida Gunnarson in Lake Bronson, Minnesota, on January 27, 1931. She was raised and cared for by her mother, aunts, uncles and grandparents.

Ida attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks and then began a long career at Minnkota Power Cooperative. There she met her future husband. She married Larry Heuchert in 1953 and they had three children, and celebrated 71 years of marriage. Both Larry and Ida were faithful members of their church and together enjoyed countless seasons of UND sports.

She was a busy mom volunteering while her children participated in: Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girls Scouts, Swimming and Gymnastics. She always found time to help others.

She is preceded in death by her husband Larry and her beloved son David. She is survived by daughters Pam (Darrell) Rundell and Nancy (Richard) Eckman; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; Sister-in-law Dolores Heuchert; and Cousins Gary Krogstad, Linda Tangquist, Florence Swanson, James and Jerry Lundberg.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 815 N 20th ST, Grand Forks.
