James "Jamie" Engen

James (Jamie) Engen son of Rosie Engen and the late Dennis Engen, passed away peacefully November 6, 2026, in Grand Forks, ND with his family by his side.

Jamie was born on May 22,1957 in Crookston, Mn. He moved from the Grafton State School to Grand Forks under REM Community Services where he attended the Grand Forks Growth and Support program.

Jamie was proud of his apartment where he had support to develop skills and relationships through a variety of activities. He enjoyed participating in Special Olympics, bowling, bocce ball, and putting puzzles together. His favorite TV show was Wheel of Fortune, and his favorite movie was Home Alone.

Jamie is survived by his mother Rosie Engen, brother Michael, sister Paula (Randy) Renfandt, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis, twin brother, Jeffrey, grandparents, and some aunts, and uncles.

A service to remember and celebrate Jamie’s life with be held Wednesday, November 18, 2026, at 11:00am at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks, ND. Visitation with the family will be held an hour prior to the service from 10:00am-11:00am, with a lunch to follow.

Burial will take place at Skatvold Cemetery in Climax, MN.
