James (Jim) Quandt, 88, of Grand Forks, ND was called home to the Lord on November 16th, 2025.
Jim, the son of Shirley and Wilmar Quandt was born on July 3rd, 1937, in Fargo, ND. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from high school before attending Minot State University.
Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was stationed in Germany. After his honorable discharge, he married Patricia McGowan on August 6, 1966, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks. The couple made their home in Grand Forks, where Jim worked as a department manager at Sears. After retiring from Sears, Jim became the owner and operator of Insty Prints in Grand Forks.
Jim was actively involved in his community, serving on the board of directors for many organizations including the St. Mary's School Board, Jaycee’s, the United Daycare Board, The Listen Center, St. Joseph’s, and the Grand Forks Homes. He volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister at Altru Hospital and served as an usher for many years at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A passionate UND sports fan and Central High School basketball supporter, Jim enjoyed his time spent with his morning coffee group and working out at the YMCA. He also loved attending his grandkids and great-grandkids special events, as family meant everything to him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; children, Lori (Dan) Carlson, Dr. Robert (Michelle) Quandt, and Jaime (Wade) Linkert; grandchildren, Kristin, Chelsea, Callie, Jonathon, Elizabeth, Bella, and Dylan; and great-grandchildren, Jaeden, Micha, Averyel, Landry, Brooklyn, Bennett, and Hayes.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald Quandt.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
