Jane Roberta Kleveland, age 69, resident of Buxton, ND, passed away peacefully in her home on February 10, 2024, with her husband by her side.

On February 26, 1954, Jane “Janie” was born to Robert and Donna (Ness) Hanson. She grew up in Hatton and graduated from high school with the Class of 1972. She furthered her education to pursue her passion, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education from Mayville State University and a Master of Science from Minot State University.

Mrs. Kleveland dedicated forty-one years to teaching elementary children at Central Valley School, where she made learning enjoyable for her students. Upon retirement, she generously volunteered her time at Immanuel Lutheran Church and Hatton Prairie Village. Her compassionate heart led her to help others wherever she could.  

Jane cherished her 50-year marriage to her beloved husband, David. They celebrated their milestone anniversary last July at Golden Lake. She found joy in reading, playing cards and puzzling with her sisters Laurel and Barb, bonfires at the lake, her dogs and all-the-things-sunshine. 

Jane was extremely proud to be a mom to her four children:  Gena (Casey), Kara (Brad), Chris (Ashlee) and Bethany. She adored her grandchildren: Alex, Jade, Madison, Connor, Harleigh, Brock and KJ; as well as her great-grandchildren: Emery, Dawson and Jameson. Her family was her everything. 

Jane was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Donna Hanson; parents-in-law: Don and Jean Kleveland; brothers-in-law: David Hedland and Harlan Pladson; one grandson, Alex Neumann and one niece, Victoria Dakken.

Jane will be remembered for her kindness, warmth and unwavering love for her family and community.

Visitation will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Buxton from 5:00 – 6:30pm on Thursday, February 29, 2024, with a Prayer Service starting at 6:30pm. Visitation will continue Friday, March 1, 2024 from 10:00am to 11:00am with a Memorial Service starting at 11:00am.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jane’s honor to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Buxton.
