Janet M. Hilde, 90, of Grand Forks, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Jan was born on February 21, 1936, near Lawton, North Dakota, to Ed and Mary (Hejlik) Schroeder. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Lawton High School. On July 31,1955, she married Edward Pearson, and the couple made their home on a farm near Lawton, where they welcomed their two sons. In 1968, the family moved to Grand Forks, where Jan worked in sales at Herberger’s and Maurices. Edward passed away on February 1, 1989.

Jan married the love of her life, Juel Hilde, on October 13th, 1991, and they were blessed with 30 wonderful years together.

Jan enjoyed making homemade kolaches, crafting, playing pinochle, taking walks at the mall, and took pride in always having her nails done. She treasured time spent with her family and will be remembered for her sweet and gentle nature. Jan was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Forks.

Jan is survived by her son, Scott (Cathy) Pearson; daughter-in-law, Cathie (Grant) Schultz; grandchildren, Jessica (Justin) Marty, Jeremy Pearson, Victoria (Nick) Holter, Joshua Pearson, Izzy Pearson, Bobby (Ashley) Pearson, Chantel Pearson, and Amanda (Taylor) Ortega; beloved siblings and extended family, Carol Halldorson, Karty (Becky) Halldorson, Eleanor Hendrick, Dianne (Darrell) Bratvold, Wayne Hilde, Dale (Diane) Hilde, and Tammy (Del) Shern; as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Mary Schroeder; her son, Rob Pearson; and her husbands, Edward Pearson and Juel Hilde.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Memorial Park South Cemetery in Grand Forks.
