Jeanette Sharon Nygaard

Jeanette Nygaard, 84, Thief River Falls, passed away at Greenleaf Memory Care on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026. Per Jeanette's request, no viewing or funeral will be held.

A private Honor Service will be held at Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND in the near future where Jeanette and husband Robert will be laid in rest together.

Jeanette Sharon Nygaard was born on July 27th, 1941, in Grand Rapids, MN. Daughter of Vernon L. and Grace M (Bevins) Sebade. Jeanette spent her childhood moving throughout the state in Deer River, Bemidji, Clearbrook and Viking, MN as her father often moved the family while working for Lakehead Pipeline. Jeanette graduated from Newfolden High School in 1959. In June of 1960 she married the love of her life Robert Nygaard, and they made their home in Thief River Falls, MN. To this union 4 children were born. Terry, Jill, William "Bill" and Janell.

Over the years, Jeanette worked as a nurse’s aide at Northwest Medical Center, on the assembly line at Arctic Cat, at McDonalds when it first opened in Thief River Falls and in the laundry and food service departments at Merit Care.

Jeanette enjoyed family camping outings, baking and candy making over the years and later in retirement wintering with her husband Robert in Tucson, then their winter home in Yuma, Arizona until his passing in 2018. She continued to spend a few more winters in the Yuma home, where her sister Carol and brother-in-law Larry Gagner also wintered, until she was no longer able to do so.

Jeanette is survived by her children: Terry (Denise) Nygaard, Becker MN, Jill (Jeff) Hanson, Newfolden MN, William "Bill" (Marvic) Nygaard, Jacksonville FL and estranged daughter Janell Stevens. Grandchildren: Preston (Stacy) Hanson, Tyler (Laura) Hanson, Samantha Nygaard, Kirstin (Chris) Sheldon, Faith Bruggeman and 1 great grandson Maxwell Hanson. Sister Carol (Larry) Gagner Thief River Falls MN and Sister-in-law Melba Marquette, North Fort Meyers, FL and several nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.

She was proceded in death by her husband Robert Nygaard, Parents Vernon & Grace Sebade, brother in laws Conley (Carol) Nygaard, Fred Marquette, Sister in Laws Ramona (Lawrence) Burns, Tressie (Kenneth) Noreen.
