Jerry R. Winters, 54, Grand Forks, ND, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 1, 2021, in Grand Forks.
Jerry was born July 29, 1966, in Houston, TX, the son of John and Jane (Nichols) Winters. He was raised and educated in Danbury, TX but spent his senior year of high school in England. He graduated from high school in Angleton, TX in 1984. Jerry earned his bachelor’s degree from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, AR. He worked as a student pastor at several churches. Jerry moved to Arizona where he attended school in Scottsdale to obtain his paralegal degree and worked for several behavioral homes before going to work for the District Attorney’s office. Jerry started his career with the U.S. Border Patrol in Nogales, AZ. Later his career in the Border Patrol moved him to Bottineau, ND where he met the love of his life.
Jerry married Nichole Butts on July 2, 2006, at the International Peace Gardens. They resided in Bottineau, ND. In 2009, Jerry transferred to the Pembina Station and the family moved to Grand Forks, ND where they continue to reside.
Jerry loved time with his family and always put them first. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, scuba diving, biking and just about any outdoor activity which included gaining his pilot’s license.
Survivors include his wife, Nichole, Grand Forks; children, Cassy, Reagan, and Maysen; parents, John and Jane Winters, Texas; his sister, Joyce
He was preceded in death by his sister, Janelle, and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Hope Church, Grand Forks, ND. Public visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Esmond, ND.
