Jo Ann Esther Bauer, born on January 18, 1937, in Washburn, North Dakota, peacefully passed away on May 15, 2025, at Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Jo Ann was known for her hard-working nature and her loving spirit which left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
From a young age, Jo Ann demonstrated a steadfast commitment to her family and community. She attended school and graduated from high school, laying the foundation for a life dedicated to service and care. In 1954, Jo Ann married John Bauer, and together they embarked on a beautiful journey filled with love, devotion, and the joys of family life. Blessed with two children, Clinton and Barbara, she poured her heart into creating a nurturing home, where laughter and love thrived.
Jo Ann lived a life connected closely to the land, assisting her husband on their farm and taking immense pride in caring for their cattle, horses, and a flourishing garden that fed her family. Her passion for farming reflected her deep-rooted connection to nature and her tireless work meant to provide for those she cherished most.
Jo Ann is survived by her son, Clinton Bauer; daughter, Barbara (Tom) Twamley; siblings: Verdon, Dennis, Sandra and Donna; grandchildren: Michael (Claire) Bauer, Matthew Bauer, Kimberly (Nick) Ellefson and Ivan Twamley; great-grandchildren: Fiona Twamley, Taylor Ellefson, Cooper Ellefson, Nora Bauer; and her beloved furry companion, Angel. Each of them carries with them the memories of Jo Ann's strength and kindness, a testament to the love that radiated from her throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bauer; parents, Benjamin and Esther Grueneich; grandparents, Caroline and Chris; daughter in law, Karen Bauer; grandchildren, John Twamley and Sara Ann Twamley. Despite their absence, Jo Ann’s legacy lives on through her family, reminding them of the values she instilled and the love that binds them.
Jo Ann Esther Bauer will be remembered not only for her remarkable dedication to her family, but also for the warmth and compassion she shared with everyone around her. Her spirit will forever echo in the hearts of her loved ones, providing comfort and inspiration as they navigate life without her physical presence.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 21, 025 at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Warren, MN.
