Joan Marie Boyer

Joan Marie Boyer, 65, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Altru Hospital.

Joan was born April 1, 1961, in Windom, Minnesota, the daughter of Lane and Marjorie (Fritz) Riordan, the first of four children. She grew up in Windom, Mankato, and Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She attended Bemidji State University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. She married Chad Albert Boyer on September 29, 1984, and shared over four decades of love and companionship, and were blessed with three children, Amy, Jack, and Sam.

Joan loved to read, paint, and scrapbook. She also loved spending time with her grandkids. She had a warm personality and a sharp sense of humor. Her presence brightened the lives of those who were lucky enough to spend time with her.

Joan is survived by her parents: Lane and Marjorie, her husband: Chad, her siblings: Patty Riordan, Mary (Tom) Jirik, Tom (Candy) Riordan, her children: Amy (Eric) Timian, Jack (Lynneah) Boyer, Sam (Alicia) Boyer, her grandchildren: Wren and Harrison, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her memorial service will be held Friday, June 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home, with refreshments to follow. Visitation with the family will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service. In remembrance of Joan, please wear bright colors/floral designs to the service.
