John Simonson

John F. Simonson, 95, of Grand Forks, ND passed away on December 26, 2025. John Fletcher Simonson was born to Arch Fletcher & Carroll Louise Simonson on October 3, 1930, in St. Paul, MN. He grew up in Grand Forks, ND and graduated from Central High School in 1949. After High school he served in the US Army for 2 years during the Korean War, then went on to graduate from the NDSSS Wahpeton. After college, John dedicated his life to his family, his business interests, and anything that went fast. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Sundet from Hickson, ND in 1954. They made their home in Grand Forks where they raised their 4 children.

John is survived by his 4 children, Suzanne Simonson, Scott (Allyson) Simonson, Fargo, Arch (Mary) Simonson, Grand Forks, Steven (Lisa) Simonson Grand Forks; 8 Grandchildren, Dane (Katie) Simonson, Morgan (Lauren) Simonson, Alex (Chelsea) Simonson, Johnny (Paige) Simonson, Eric (Morgan) Simonson, Lindy Simonson, Grant Simonson, Olivia (Ethan)Meyer, and 11 Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Peter T. Simonson, and Elizabeth Simonson.

Memorial Service will be held 10:00 am Saturday January 10, 2026, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Grand Forks. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be at Memorial Park North Cemetery in Grand Forks after the service. The service will be available via livestream from the St. Paul's Episcopal Church Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/stpaulsgrandforks.
