Jon Seaberg

Jon A. Seaberg, 83, Grand Forks, died Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Valley Senior Living on Columbia, Grand Forks.   

Jon Alton Seaberg, the son of Norris and Delores (Ekeren) Seaberg, was born on May 12, 1940 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. At 3 years of age he moved with his family to Moorhead, Minnesota where he attended school, graduating from Moorhead High School.  He was employed by the Moorhead Country Club for a short time before he entered the US Navy.  

Jon married Cheryl Egge and they had two sons, Eric and Derek.  Later he married Vicky Braaten, and they also had two sons, Brett and Bart.  Jon was a longtime employee of Associated Potato Growers in  Grand Forks and was also a fishing guide on Lake of the Woods.  

He loved fishing, visiting casinos, Minnesota sports and UND hockey.  He enjoyed dealing blackjack in his retirement years.   

Jon is survived by his sons, Eric Gorder (Nancy Hillen), Derek Gorder (Beth), Brett Seaberg (Lindsey), and Bart Seaberg (Summer); grandchildren, Abbie, Sabrina, Harrison, Brooke, Cainan, Madison, Trab, and Maverick; two great-grandchildren, Zoey and Olivia; and one sister, Barb Buth (Jeff).  He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Vicky.

A Memorial Reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2023 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks.
