Juanita I. Muir, 95 of Grand Forks, North Dakota died Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Edgewood, Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Juanita was born on September 25, 1930, the daughter of Ewald and Ada (Becker) Gonitzke in Kramer, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in Inkster, North Dakota. Juanita graduated from Inkster High School in 1948.

Juanita was united in marriage to James L. Muir on November 27, 1949, in Grand Forks. They made their home in rural Inkster, where they raised their family and farmed. They retired in 1986 and eventually moved to Grand Forks in 2008.

Juanita was a long-time active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Inkster. She enjoyed bowling, attending her children’s activities, as well as her grandchildren’s activities throughout the years. Family was always her top priority and cherished the time spent with them.

Juanita is survived by her son, James E (Carol) Muir of West Fargo, ND; daughters: Debby (Dan) Anderson, Grand Forks, ND; Jana (Gary "Ace") Nichelson of Fargo, ND; Lisa (Larry) Motacek of Jamestown, ND; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Wes) Henry, Tiffany Johnson, Ashley (Jake) Grundman, Brittany (Blair) Johnson, Brandi (Tom) Miller, James M. (Jordan) Muir, Adam “AJ” (Ashley) Motacek and Aaron Motacek; thirty one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; sisters, Thelma Ryan of Emerado, ND and Sandra (Jim) Lancaster of Grand Forks, ND; numerous nieces and nephews.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James L. (2009), grandson, Jeremy Anderson, brother, Gerald (Ella Marie) Gonitzke, sister, Leola Gonitzke and brother-in-law, John Ryan.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Chapel in Edgewood, Grand Forks, North Dakota. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Chapel in Edgewood, Grand Forks, North Dakota.
