Judy M. Christianson, 85, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024 at Valley Senior Living on Columbia, Grand Forks.

Judy was born on October 22, 1938 in Grand Forks, the daughter of Mae and Milton Christianson of Pembina, ND. Judy was the first baby to use Deaconess Hospital’s new incubator. 

Judy attended Pembina High School and earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education from UND. She taught third grade at West and Lake Agassiz schools for 32 years.

Judy was a member of Entre Nous, Thursday Music Club, Alpha Delta Kappa, Pi Lambda Theta, and Sigma Alpha Iota. As a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, for many years she directed the children’s choir and provided baked goods and floral arrangements for bazaars. Judy accompanied several choirs and individuals in the community.

Judy is survived by sisters, Sally Nordlie and Susan Christianson; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Christianson and Mary Jo Christianson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by brothers, Leonard and Edward; and by a brother-in-law, Robert Nordlie.

A family gathering will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Pembina Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Red River Valley or a guide dog charity of choice.
