Karen Peach

October 30, 1932 — September 5, 2021

Karen Adell Peach peacefully passed away September 5th, 2021 of natural causes, surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Grand Forks.

Karen was born October 30th, 1932 on the family farm near Osnabrock, ND. She was the 4th daughter of Thorval and Violet (Myers) Haug. Karen attended a one room schoolhouse through 8th grade and continued high school in Langdon ND where she boarded and attended high school graduating in 1950. Karen moved to Fargo; during that time she accepted a “blind date” from Kent Peach. Karen and Kent married May 3rd, 1953 in Langdon, ND. They shared 63+ years of marriage, until Kent died unexpectedly in Mesa, AZ in December of 2016. Grand Forks is where they raised their children & lived in their family home for over 50 years. Karen and Kent were members of Calvary Lutheran church over 60 years. They spent 30+ winters in Mesa, AZ, cherishing wonderful close friendships. Karen took great pride in her role as homemaker. In 1978, Karen was the first manager at Peggy’s Hallmark in the Columbia Mall. She worked there for 10 years. She loved to decorate her home for every holiday and made special memories for every occasion. Karen also loved gardening, fishing, baking bars, going to the casino, playing games and cards, and watching her soap operas.

The role she truly cherished was being a grandmother to her six granddaughters. Karen had some of her best times with her three sisters: Delores, LaVelda, and Gloria. They had an incredibly close bond, and they were fortunate to spend their winters together (along with their husbands) at Mesa Village. Even in their 80s, they were still known as the “best dressed sisters.”

Karen is survived by two daughters and one son. Konnie (Tom) Middleton of Fountain Hills, AZ. Kim Peach of West Glacier, MT. Kay (Art) Culver of Grand Forks, ND. Daughter-in-law, Kristy Peach of Choteau, MT. Grandchildren, Kourtney and Kaitlan Culver, Adair and Ella Peach, Nicole and Lindsay Middleton. Sister, Gloria Wirt and brother-in-law, Bruce Rodenhizer. Special niece, Cathy Meyer and numerous loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Kent Peach, parents, sisters LaVelda Rodenhizer, Delores (Kenny) Meyer, brothers in law,  Jack (Marian) Peach, Ronnie Wirt, sister in law Mary Ellen (Frank) Cabral and special great niece Stacey Rice. The family would like to thank the excellent care of the Home Care Companions and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Per Karen’s wishes, a private family funeral will be held October 23rd, 2021. Interment will be held at Erie, ND cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Calvary Lutheran Church or charity of your choice in Karen’s memory.
