Kenneth Wayne Spaeth

Kenny was born on October 21, 1923 to Frank Spaeth and Anna Ebel Spaeth in Rolla, N.D. He had two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Art Spaeth, Harold Spaeth and Donnie Grafsgard.

Ken attended the Oxford School. He had to leave school at 12 years of age to support himself and his mother. As a self-made man, he learned many skills

After serving in WWII, he returned home to marry Esther Simoson in Agate, N.D. They decided to make their life in Grand Forks, N.D. where Ken worked for C.L. Linfoot for some time. His final employment was working at the Grand Fork’s Air Force Base as a Civil Servant until he retired.

Kenny was and outdoor adventurer (Fishing, Hunting, Snowmobiling and even Snow Skiing) He taught his children every sport available. Even flooded the back yard to create a skating rink. Ken always loved playing cards. He was good at it. His favorite place to play in later years was the EGF Senior Center, even when the gals took his quarters. Dancing up a storm with Esther was always a pleasure for him, plus he liked to travel. The only stipulation was it always had to be “Out West”. That was “The Cowboy” in him.

Ken and Est had four children: Sonia, Claudia, Kim and Holly; Sadly, he was proceeded in death by his wife Esther, his son, Kim and his daughter, Sonia

Ken is survived by Claudia Spaeth, Husband (Curtis Rice), Holly Terrell, Husband (Rick Terrell) and Corrine Klein Spaeth, Daughter-in Law, and Wife to Kim; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Kenneth had a very full, fun, and rewarding life. At 102 and ½ he survived and thrived an incredible run.

A family led celebration of Kenny's life will be held at Valley Golf Event Room on June 29, 2026, from 2:00-4:00PM. Please bring your memories and stories to celebrate Ken.
