Kevin Vejtasa, 62, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, surrounded by his family. Kevin was formerly of Adams, North Dakota.
Kevin was born June 24, 1963, to Don Vejtasa and Sharon Gunville. He entered the world alongside his twin brother Craig, beginning a lifelong partnership that many would say was double the trouble and double the laughter. The two shared a special bond throughout their lives, even having their own “secret language” and always understanding each other’s jokes.
Kevin enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. His daughters remember waking up in the middle of the night to go fishing for catfish at 2 a.m., because that’s when they were biting. They looked forward to those trips so much that they barely slept just to make sure they didn’t miss going with him.
Kevin built many lasting memories with his children, family, and friends.
Kevin shared a special bond with his sons, Nick and Tyler. Nick and Kevin made up a secret song together that nobody else knew, and more than 20 years later, they could still recite it together. Tyler was Kevin’s best friend from the day he was born, and the two shared a bond much like Kevin had with his twin brother Craig, often making each other laugh with just a look.
Kevin was known for his quick wit, his stories, and his trivia knowledge, often seeming to know the answer to every Jeopardy question. He loved being a grandfather and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Kevin is survived by his children, Kelly, Jodi, Tyler, and Nick; his grandchildren, Dylan (Maddy), Riley, Brayden, and Madison; his great-granddaughter, Grace; his mother, Sharon Gunville; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don Vejtasa; his sister, Jeanie; his twin brother, Craig; and his nephew, Keith.
Kevin will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Many find comfort in knowing Kevin and his twin brother Craig are together again.
A celebration of Kevin’s life will be held this spring, hosted by his family.
