L. Russell Brown

Russell Brown, 87 of Sun City, AZ passed away on September 6, 2022 from complications due to COVID-19.

Russell Brown was born June 24, 1935 in Grand Forks, ND the son of Larry and Cleo (Russell) Brown. Russ attended St. Mary’s Elementary, South Jr. High and Central High School all in Grand Forks, ND. Russ attended the University of Idaho before entering the US Army in 1954.  After being discharged from the Army he attended the University of ND.  Russ married his high school sweetheart, Constance Sollom on December 27, 1956 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.  Together they raised six children.  From 1959 to 1998 Russ held the positions of Sales Manager, President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of AGSCO, Inc. The AGSCO Out-n-Back Service and Air Systems, the Direct Chemical Injection and DB Green Liquid were a few of the many developments that under Russ’ leadership AGSCO continued to grow & prosper.  He served on many boards including Center for Innovation, First American Bank, ND Agricultural Association, RRV Winter Shows Foundation, as well as many more.  He was awarded the ND Small Business Person of the Year, ND Business Innovator of the year, Builder of the Valley, Tibbets Award from the US Small Business Administration and the Kernel Award from the ND Grain Growers Association.  In his retirement he spent many hours volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul in the greater Phoenix area.

Russ is survived by his wife of 65 years, Constance; Children; Kimberly Boby, Phoenix, AZ, Randy (Merrilee), Grand Forks, ND, Timothy (Barbara), Grand Forks, ND, Stacy Brown, Phoenix, AZ, W. Lisa (Steve) Salyer, Grand Forks, ND, Brenda Brown, Fountain Hills, AZ;  sister Beverly Glessner, Fargo, ND;  14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Chad Blair.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial:  2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND, with a visitation one hour prior to service.

Inurnment with military honors will be at a later date in Calvary  South  Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
