LaVina "Libbi" C. Volk

LaVina “Libbi” C. Volk, age 78, of Grand Forks, died Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota, surrounded by the love of her family.

Lavina Caroline Lien was born April 21, 1947, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Henry and Wilfrieda Delphine (Hawkins) Lien. Libbi graduated from Central High School in 1965, and she furthered her education in Colorado, where she earned her associate’s degree. Libbi dedicated her professional career to healthcare, where she worked as a nurse aid and later became a transcriptionist. On September 11, 1971, Libbi was united in marriage to Vincent Volk at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Together, they lived in Colorado, Germany, and eventually returned to Grand Forks in 2014.

Libbi enjoyed spending her time with her family, reading and staying updated about political news and events. Libbi is survived by her husband of 54 years, Vincent of Grand Forks, ND; daughter, Lisa Hunt; grandchildren, Marquis, Samantha, Coby, Alyssa and great-grandson, Lawrence. siblings, Janice Coyle, Karen (Guy) Haarsager, Terry (Debbie) Lien; family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Wilfrieda Delphine Hawkins-Lien, daughter, Nichole Lynn Volk-Gardner, and sister, Rita Lien Foust.

A private family graveside service will be held in the Spring of 2026 at Memorial Park North Cemetery in Grand Forks, North Dakota
