LaVonn A. Bjornson, 81, passed away on September 22, 2022 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

LaVonn was born June 16, 1941, the daughter of Louis & Myrtle (Olson) Hovel in Nelson County, ND. She grew up on a farm near Cooperstown, ND, and graduated from Cooperstown High School.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Bjornson on February 22, 1959, in Cooperstown, ND. Together they raised 3 children. They lived in Cooperstown, Hannaford, New Rockford and Park River before making Grand Forks their home in 1986.

LaVonn drove semi-truck for many years. Kenneth and LaVonn also attended AVTI together where they learned the art of truck driving. They later drove trucks as a team. She retired with Trans-systems in 2015.

She enjoyed cooking, shopping for bargains, playing cards with her grandchildren and being with family.

LaVonn is survived by a daughter, Roxann (Randy) Johnson; son, Mitchell (Leslie) Bjornson; grandchildren, Brandon (Paige) Bjornson, Brittany Bjornson and Benjamin (Ashley) Bjornson; brother, Clayton (Louise) Heinz; sisters, Elieen Meyers & Margaret (Syl) Loegering and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth and a son, Frankie.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 28 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND.

VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral service at Amundson’s.

INTERMENT: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
