Linda Jean Hance, 81, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, died on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Bethany Retirement on University in Fargo. Linda was born on June 18, 1941, in Larimore, North Dakota to Lynn and Florence (Casmey) Ralston. She attended school at Nash Township in rural Petersburg, later graduating from Petersburg High School in 1959. While in high school, Linda was crowned Miss Petersburg. She was also active in cheerleading. Following high school, Linda moved to Grand Forks where she began her family. She soon married Charlie Steinkueler. The couple was married for 16 years. Linda spent her time raising her children, as well as working as a C.N.A. at Valley Memorial Home on Elmont. On November 15, 1985, Linda was united in marriage to James “Jim” Hance in Grand Forks. The couple remained in Grand Forks where Linda went on to work at Valley Senior Living on Columbia as a C.N.A., dietician and various other positions. She then spent 14 years as a nanny helping many families in the Grand Forks area. After her time spent nannying, Linda began her own cleaning service. Linda retired for good at the age of 67. During her retirement years, Linda enjoyed gardening, and baking. She was famous for her chocolate chip cookies and toffee bars. The single most important thing to Linda was her FAMILY. She loved family get-togethers and especially her grandchildren. She was an avid Sioux football fan and enjoyed playing bingo at the Southgate. Linda is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Mitchell (Kathy) Steinkuehler of Moorhead, MN, Brian (Lisa Unkenholz) Steinkuehler of Portage, MI, Julie (Jack) Murrah of Fargo, ND, Bruce (Christy) Steinkuehler of Casselton, ND, and Chuck (Theresa) Steinkuehler of Sheperd, TX; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth (Harry) Feild of Ashland, VA; mother-in-law, Clarice Hance of Minot, ND; 4 sisters-in-law; an aunt, Joyce Ralston; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family; and very special friends, Jean and Jack Johnston of Grand Forks. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; a grandson, Joshua Steinkuehler; and brothers, Les and Tommy Ralston. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
