Lizzie B. Hunter, age 100 of Northwood, ND and formerly of Gilby, ND died on Friday, December 19th, 2025, at Northwood Deaconess Health Center surrounded by caring staff.

Lizzie was born on December 22nd, 1924, in Nashville, TN to Charlie and Gracie (Kemp) Carver. She was raised in the Whites Creek area where she graduated from Cumberland High School with the Class of 1943. Following high school, she worked for the General Shoe company in Nashville.

In 1956, she met and married Milton Hunter of Gilby, ND. They would farm until Milton’s retirement in 1970. After Milton’s death in 1971, she worked as a bookkeeper in Gilby and as the parish secretary for the Midway Community Parish. She was known for being especially active with church activities. She moved to Parkwood in Grand Forks in 2016 and later to Northwood in April of 2022.

For as long as she was able to travel, she stayed in touch with her Tennessee roots and for 44 years, was part of a Saturday morning coffee group with local Gilby ladies.

Lizzie is survived by her son, Duane (Rachael) Hunter of Gilby; grandchildren: Jacob Hunter, Owen Hunter, Persephone Snow and Erica Stafford, nieces: Lesa Hudgens, Sheilah Wise, Darlene Hughes, Debra Close, Diane Carlson, Denelle Hunter, Jody Bizzle and nephew, Darrin Hunter.

Lizzie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers: Edward and Bobby Carver.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 2:00PM at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in the Spring of 2026 in Prairie Home Cemetery.
