Logan Eugene Purcell

Feb 17, 1993 — Aug 26, 2026

Logan Purcell, age 33, passed away peacefully at his home on August 26, 2026. Born on February 17, 1993, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Logan brought a bright, irreplaceable light into the lives of everyone who knew him.

Logan grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School in 2011. A man of many talents and deep passions, he went on to earn a degree in plumbing from Northland. He worked in the plumbing trade for several years before bringing his energy and hard work to the restaurant industry. Logan enjoyed his time working for North Dakota Vision Services/School for the Blind, where he found deep joy in helping others. Ever curious and deeply caring, Logan was currently exploring a new path to go back to school to become a social studies teacher—a testament to his love for learning and connecting with others.

Logan had a deep appreciation for the beauty in life. He loved music, art, movies, and cooking deliciously spicy meals for those he cared about, always ready with a quick one-liner joke that added effortless joy to any conversation. Above all, his greatest love was Little Wolf Lake. Being by the water, helping his dad put in the dock, tackling lake projects, and driving the boat had a profound, calming effect on his soul. He had a deep love for dogs, especially Gracie, the family Lab, who spent hours side-by-side with him on sunset boat rides. Logan also cherished family getaways, especially beach vacations to Florida with his Mom, Dad and his travelling companion Scott Churchill. Logan brought immense joy and love to his inner circle, punctuated by a truly unique, infectious laugh and fun style that will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his loving parents, Brian and Tami Purcell; his siblings, Rhea Purcell and Jared (Candy) Purcell; and his cherished niece and nephew, Olin and Ophelia, who knew him affectionately as "Lolo."

He is survived by his aunts and uncles: Auntie Nay Grabanski, Uncle Robin (Stacey) Purcell, Aunt Becky (Wayne) Trosen, Uncle Grant (Dede) Purcell, Uncle Pat Purcell, and Aunt Kristi Venjohn Purcell.

Family was central to Logan's life, and he grew up surrounded by a large, loving network of cousins. On his mother’s side: Kim Nueunfeldt, Dan Poythress, Andrea Grabanski, Tony Deitz, Eric Deitz, and Teresa Byrne. On the Purcell side, the cousins were exceptionally close and spent countless hours together at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. He was especially close with Tavis Trosen, and Jenny Purcell, and shared wonderful memories with Rylan Purcell, Ashton Purcell, Kristen DiMaggio, Kyle Trosen and Tanner Trosen, Reagan and Porter Purcell, and Lucas Purcell and Jessie Ryan.

Logan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lillian and James Purcell, and John and Laverne Overland; his Auntie Bev Deitz; and his uncle, Dwight Overland. Gracie, Liberty and Ginger were undoubtedly waiting at the gates to greet him with wagging tails for more sunset boat rides together.

To honor Logan’s vibrant spirit and unique style, the family requests that attendees wear their loudest Hawaiian shirts and funkiest, wildest socks to his service.
