Lori J. Lizakowski

Lori Jo Lizakowski, 62, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away at Ave Maria Skilled Nursing Facility in Jamestown, ND, on October 31, 2023, after bravely battling cancer.

Lori was born in Oakes, ND, on March 24, 1961 to Madelene and Curtis Freitag. After graduating from Forman High School in 1979, she received her Cosmetology degree in Grand Forks, ND. She worked in Grand Forks at The Cut Above and Jo Jo’s Hair Boutique for many years. Lori married Carl Lizakowski in 1984 in Grand Forks, where they raised two daughters, Ashley and Kelsey.

Lori enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids, tending to her flower gardens, being at the lake and in the sun, reading, and spoiling her dogs and cat.

Lori is survived by her daughters, Ashley Lizakowski (Jason Capes), Grand Forks; Kelsey Lizakowski (Keith Wilson), Jamestown, ND; brother, Doug Freitag (Angle Inlet, MN); sisters-in-law, Rosella Freitag (Fargo, ND); Sherri Kalka (Greg), Drayton, ND; Meredith Gozdal (Todd), Drayton, ND; five grandsons; aunts, Erika Nordine (East Grand Forks, MN); Kathy Howell (Willmar, MN); and several cousins, nieces and nephews.   

Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Madalene Freitag; parents-in-law, Bev and Brad Rynning; sister, Connie Freitag; and dear uncles and aunts.

Services will be held at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks on Thursday, November 9, 2023, with a social hour from 5:00-6:30 PM, followed by a celebration of life service at 6:30 PM.
