Lorna I. Erickson

Lorna Ione Erickson, 84, Grand Forks, ND died Sunday, January 24, 2021 at home with family by her side.

Lorna Ione Miller was born June 24, 1936 in Mohall ND, the daughter of Arthur and Leona (Siltman) Miller. While growing up she lived in several ND towns with her family including Fessenden, Parshall, and Rugby, ND where she graduated from high school. After high school Lorna attended the Deaconess Hospital Nurses Training College in Grand Forks.

Lorna married Robert Erickson on November 3, 1955 in Grand Forks where they made their home. They were blessed with four children. Lorna loved being a mother and spending time with her children. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years with her daughter.

Lorna was a wonderful cook and will especially be remembered for her homemade bread. People would stand in line to purchase her loaves of bread at church bazaars and bake sales. She loved to share her talent for bread making with others as well. Another one of her many talents was baking, decorating, and selling wedding cakes. She sold enough cakes to purchase a trip to Hawaii for Robert and herself. She was also a wonderful at cross stitching and made a baby blanket and wall picture for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they were born.

Lorna and Robert enjoyed traveling, both with their children and also later just the two of them. During their 65-years of marriage they traveled to all 50 states and many foreign countries.

Lorna was very close with her sister Carol Ann and they talked on the phone nightly.

Survivors include her husband Robert Erickson, Grand Forks; children, Mark (Sandra) Erickson, Durham, NC, David (Denise) Erickson, Grand Forks, ND, John (Sheri) Erickson, Bismarck, ND, and Debra Erickson, Dallas, TX. Grandchildren Robert Erickson, Mark Allen Erickson, Seth Sweeney, Shane Erickson, Nathan (Marinda) Erickson, Bethany (Zach Emineth) Erickson, Nicholas Erickson, & Brayden Erickson; grandchildren Lyla & Jamison Emineth. Siblings Darroll (Carol) Miller, Colorado Springs, CO, Carol Ann (David) Durnford, Missoula, MT, & Donovan (Michael) Miller New Glarus, WI. Lorna was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 4:00 p.m. prayer service at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Forks.
