Lowell A. Nelson, 96, Grand Forks, ND, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 in Valley Senior Living on Columbia.

Lowell was born April 16, 1925 in Hallock, MN, the son of Albert and Celia (Swanson) Nelson. He attended North Star public school in Orleans, MN, then at Lancaster, MN and graduated from high school at Gilby, ND.

On February 14, 1956, he married Marian J. Lundeen at Augustana Lutheran Church in Grand Forks.

Lowell drove a gas transport truck for 34 years, the last 12 of those years for Cenex. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, a Northern Valley Union member and a Retiree Association member. Lowell also belonged to the Retired Men’s Club and the Eagle’s Club of East Grand Forks, MN.

Lowell enjoyed seeing his family, reading, television and word search books. He was a longtime member of Augustana Lutheran Church and enjoyed the Men’s Breakfast Group when he was able to go.

Lowell is survived by his wife, Marian of 65 years; daughter, Lori (Greg) Anderson; son, Eric (Kim) Nelson; granddaughters, Kristen, Megan and Nicole; great grandchildren, Abby, Jozy, Kara, Jaxton, Tayven and RaeLynn; sisters-in-law, Dean Nelson and Sharon Nelson; brothers-in-law, Jim Lundeen and Dave (Kathy) Lundeen; and several nieces and nephews.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; by three brothers, Alvin Nelson, Dennis (Liz) Nelson and Harris Nelson; and a sister-in-law, Linda Lundeen.

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 4, 2022 at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park North Cemetery in the spring.
