Lyle Dean Rose

April 19, 1945 — June 13, 2025

Lyle Dean Rose, 80, of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks, ND.

Lyle was born on April 19, 1945, to Walter and Esther (Trenne) Rose and grew up in the Underwood, MN, area. He attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND, where he cultivated his lifelong passion for agriculture and education. Following his graduation, he served in the Army Reserve.

In 1969, Lyle began his teaching career at Central Valley School in Buxton, ND, where he taught agriculture and vocational education. There, he met elementary school teacher Rosalie (Krile), and the two were married in 1971. Together, they raised three daughters, Cindy, Sherry, and Karen on their rural East Grand Forks farm. For more than forty years, he was well known for growing the best sweetcorn in the area, supplying local stores with his prized corn, pumpkins, and other vegetables.

Lyle retired from teaching after 35 years of service at Central Valley, where he educated generations of families and made lifelong friendships. His dedication continued in retirement as a substitute teacher and school bus driver for Thompson Public School for several years.

Through his teaching years and into retirement, Lyle gave back to the community through involvement in many organizations, including North Dakota FFA, Hunter Education, East Grand Forks American Legion, and Honor Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; daughters Cindy (Steve) Schauer and Karen (Bryan) Benson; son-in-law Peter Dunn; grandchildren Tyler (Cassie) Schauer, Nicholas Schauer, Dixon Dunn, Cullen Benson, and Lochlan Benson; brother, Duane Rose; sisters-in-law Evelyn Krile and Dolorus Krile; many nieces and nephews; cherished friends, family members, and special neighbors, the Perreault Family, whose kindness and support meant so much over the years.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Dunn; sisters LaVonne (Ellard) Johnson and Valjeanne (Merle) Johansen; sister-in-law Carol Rose; brothers-in-law Bennie Krile, Vernon Krile, and Arnold (Pat) Krile.
