Margaret L. Gilbertson

Margaret Leona Gilbertson, 88, Grand Forks, ND, passed away peacefully July 30, 2023 surrounded by family and friends.

Margaret was born March 8,1935, to Leo and Margaret Boedigheimer in Petersburg ND. She graduated from high school at Petersburg, ND. She married the love of her life Donald Gilbertson September 7, 1953 and moved to Grand Forks, ND and raised their eight children. They loved children so much that she and Donald decided to become foster parents and did it for 27 years. During this time they had more than 300 children. She loved them all. She also loved to garden and did a lot of canning. But most of all she loved to spend time with her family and playing BINGO!

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Gilbertson; mother and father, Leo and Margaret Boedigheimer; brother, Elwin Boedigheimer; sister, Dorthy LeTourneau; her daughter and son in law Madonna and Terry Hill; and granddaughter, Dawn Hendrickson.

Margaret is survived by her brother, Anthony (Teresa) Boedigheimer, Cumberland VA; sons, Terry (Bonnie), Hastings, MN, Dean (Dalinda), Grand Forks, ND, Craig (Kim), Grand Forks, ND, Bradley (Tammy), Grand Forks, ND, Thomas, Grand Forks, ND, Eugene Grand Forks, ND and daughter, Kathleen (Mark) Lommen, Grand Forks. Margaret also has 23 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, August 4, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Grand Forks.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 6:30 PM prayer service at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before Mass in the church.

Burial will be in Calvary North Catholic Cemetery, Grand Forks.
